Massage Therapy Modalities of Service:
Medical Massage *Clinical assessment of soft-tissue pathologies. Evaluation of functional movement and active/ passive ROM. Including the psychology of the body: psychological defenses from grounding, breathwork, and emotional releases.
Graston Technique- a scraping technique using different shaped stainless- steel tools to manually release adhesions within the connective tissue surrounding major joint, tendons, and ligaments. Great for releasing scar tissue.
Craniosacral Therapy- a system of alternative medicine intended to relieve pain and clear waste. A very feather-light touch with Spinal holds that works to soothe and ease nerves in the spine.
Myofascial Release (Thomas Myers)- structural balance using myofascia meridians via whole body. an alternative medicine therapy useful for treating skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood flow, oxygen, and lymphatic circulation, and stimulating the stretch reflex in muscles.
Prenatal/ Postpartum Massage (Claire Marie Miller)- therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through dramatic changes of pregnancy. Enhances function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue. Typically, done side-lying with extra support bolsters and pillows. Postpartum- simply a full-body massage received within the first 12 weeks after delivery.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage- encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back to the heart. Great for post-surgical inflammation. Post- injury or surgery Rehab.
Muscle Energy Techniques- uses the muscles own energy in the form of gentle isometric contractions to relax the muscles via autogenic or reciprocal inhibition and lengthening the muscle. Improves joint function and improves pain.
Neuromuscular Therapy– a form of deep tissue release targeting chief trigger points to ring-out toxins. Specific to deeper layers of tissue NOT more pressure.
Sports Therapy- Pre/Post Event Sports massage- the prevention of injury and rehabilitation of the patient back to optimal levels of functional, occupational and sport specific movements. A before and after event massage. Great for marathon runners, bikers, and hikers. Any athlete- even school-age and teenagers. Must be booked as 2 sessions Before/ After. *** Rehab & Recovery Exercises “Homework”- Foam Rolling, Resistance bands, Theraband, and TENS Unit.
Active Release Technique- a patented soft-tissue technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia (connective tissue) and nerves. Combines manipulation and movement.
Shiatsu- a form of Japanese bodywork based on concepts in traditional Chinese medicine. Derives from a Japanese massage modality called anma meaning finger-pressure is applied to certain points in the body and utilizes same principles as Acupuncture.
Tai Chi- an internal martial art practiced for both its defense training, health benefits and meditation. Improves flexibility, strength, and endurance. Balance and coordination. Provides relaxation and stress management.
Thai-Yoga Massage – yoga-like stretches utilizing acupressure to unblock energy Sen lines. The compressions release stagnant energy, improves flexibility, stimulate lymphatic flow, increase range of motion, detoxify the body, increase oxygen in the respiratory system. Performed on a Thai mat on the floor wearing loose-fitting gym workout clothes.
Gua Sha- a traditional Chinese medicine in which a tool is used to scrape the skin to release the connective tissue between joints to produce a light pink/red area to bring white blood cells to help repair the tissue in healing.
Tui-Na- a branch of Chinese medicine and is often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, fire cupping, Chinese herbalism, and Qigong. Boosts blood circulation, reduces neck pain, relieves back pain, treats depression and osteoarthritis, soft tissue disorders, promotes lactation.
Cupping Therapy- a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin with the application of heated cups thus pulling the superficial skin layers up and away from the skeleton to release any adhesions.
Bamboo Fusion- various lengths and widths of hot bamboo stalks to perform deep-tissue therapy. Tapotement, kneading, and rolling.
Restorative- the practice of asanas each held for longer holds (up to 10mins). With extra added support of blocks, straps, bolsters, and folded blankets to relax the body.
Yin– a slow-paced style of yoga as exercise, incorporating principles of the traditional Chinese medicine, with poses that are held for up to 5-10mins.
Deep Stretch- an active deeper stretching of the bodies connective tissue. Targets primary muscle groups- this class begins with warm-up movements to build heat and prepare the muscles for stretching. Poses are held for 1-2mins.
Yoga Therapy- (private 1:1)- Utilizes poses, breathing techniques, and meditation to benefit and improve overall health. A variety of yogic practices are used such as asana (the physical postures) pranayama (breathing exercises) meditation (guided imagery) through the application of teachings and practices of yoga. Different styles of yoga can be determined based on consult and Health History.

Traditional Massage styles
Swedish- the most common form of therapy. Involves soft, long, kneading strokes on the topmost layers of skin as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes that can be both relaxing and energizing.
Esalen Massage- is known for its healing and nurturing touch. Combines long strokes, gentle rocking and stretching, sculpting of deep musculature and the precision of acupressure that focuses on energy and psychological well-being.
Reiki (Energy Work)- a healing technique based on the therapist channeling energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
