The VI Peel® is a powerful, medium-depth chemical peel that penetrates the top layer of skin, called the epidermis, reaching into the dermis underneath. By this, it can provide corrective change, hitting multiple conditions, all at once. VI Peels are gentle enough that they can safely be used on your face, chest, eyelids, hands, and back.
The VI Peel® uses a product trademarked by Vitality Institute Medical Products, and according to the Vitality Institute, this type of peel can be used on all skin types and tones.

After the application is complete, it is common for the patient's skin to be flushed and have a slight tanned appearance for a few days: Peeling is expected to begin within 3 days post VI Peel and expected to end by Day 7. It is extremely important to not peel or pick at the skin as this can cause adverse side effects such as irritation, scarring and/or pigmentation.
Patients who tend to have oilier skin, may experience less visible peeling which is normal due to an increase in sebum production. Once oil production recalibrates, patients may see an increase in visible peeling.

A chemical peel can help by exfoliating the top skin layer, which removes excess collagen. Medium chemical peels are typically recommended for acne scars.
